Turnkey Promotions, is a promotional marketing group based in Richmond, Virginia. Their main focus is to "change behavior for clients by using rewards and recognition, rather than whacks on the head". They do that through logo-imprinted products and high Return On Investment (ROI) programs. They also perform statistical studies on those programs to prove that they really do affect a positive change. In addition, they offer graphic design services, warehousing/fulfillment, product creation, sourcing and delivery, program development and brand development and implementaion. They work with both for-profit and non-profit organizations, though their main focus is the national non-profit.

History

Formerly Specialty Printing, Inc., Turnkey Promotions was born the moment that CEO Katrina VanHuss quit her job selling dictation equipment in 1988. Her former boss, in a huff to fire her, was unsuccessful as he stumbled over the phrase “you’re fir. .!” Katrina quickly interrupted with “I quit!” which thus began her journey as a successful leader for Turnkey Promotions. From that auspicious beginning, the company expanded quickly, servicing local and national accounts. (And Turnkey even managed to get her old boss as an account.) They moved from their beloved "house on the hill" in Glen Allen to a more spacious building in Richmond, complete with attached warehouse, play room, kitchen and "bonus room" - great for meditation, relaxing or napping while the boss is at lunch.

Innovation

Turnkey's innovation is that they've taken cold, hard business practices and applied them to warm, fuzzy organizations. They get volunteers to raise more money by marketing incentive programs that promise a great logo-imprinted prize upon reaching a set dollar amount. So the volunteer raises more money, wants to come back the next year, and has a useful prize that will promote the organization all year long. Then they measure the success of the program over years past to see what change they have made. One client has seen fundraising income grow from $7 million to $30 million!
Turnkey also supplies non-profits with their most valued piece of marketing material: the participant tee shirt. They have found a way to project usage of shirts and deliver them just in time for the event, which eliminates pre-event storage and reduces waste after the event. In 2008, Turnkey serviced over 500 income events, moving more than 400,000 tee shirts into volunteer hands.

Contributions

In addition to servicing many non-profit clients, Turnkey's employees are also members of various charity events in the Richmond area. Their Relay For Life team has raised over $120,000 for the American Cancer Society over the last 10 years. They make donations to Virginia Special Olympics, Children's Miracle Network, Boy's and Girls Clubs and Little League teams, just to name a few. They also donate goods to help promote those organizations.
