Key West Shipwreck Historeum, 1 Whitehead Street, in Old Mallory Square, is housed in a reproduction of the wreckers warehouse that originally stood on the site. Costumed actors interact with visitors and recreate the events of the wreck and salvage the Isaac Allerton, which sank in 1856. Artifacts from the shipwreck are on display and videotapes are shown. A 65-foot observation tower provides a magnificent view of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. Allow 1 hour minimum. Open daily 9:45-4:45. Phone 305.292.8990.
