Pella holds more than 100 product and design patents for such products as bay windows, clad casement and awning, sliding French doors, contemporary doors, and entry systems. Pella originally marketed its products through a network of distribution centers and Pella Window & Door Stores (high-end retail outlets), with its focus on upscale homeowners, builders, and designers. It has expanded its business to do-it-yourselfers by offering its products through such building materials retailers as Lowe's, which sell Pella windows and patio doors through in-store Pella Design Centers. Descendants of founder Pete Kuyper own Pella.
