OIC's and Z85's explanations

  • OIC: 04:59, 3 August 2007
    • "…I am not a sockpuppeteer…"
    • "…Unfortunately, I chose to allow my friends to use my computer on a number of occasions when they stayed here, and my own addiction to Wikipedia wasn't enough to keep me off it when I was at theirs. I can't recall exact times and dates, but there would have been a few as I do not have a car and User:Zivko85, who lives nearby, often gives me a lift home from places."
    • "DanielT5 once stayed at my house for four days a few months ago when his accommodation arrangements fell through."
  • OIC: 05:10, 3 August 2007
    • "I did know about Zivko85's vote before he voted (although it was his choice to place it), I didn't know about DanielT5's (actually was SMSd about it by another contributor while in a lecture at uni). In retrospect there are some things I would seriously have done a lot differently (mainly with regards to who I let use my machine when they visit, which in the case of Zivko85 is rather frequent)"
  • OIC: 07:34, 3 August 2007
    • "Obviously the situation which had prevailed until Tuesday or Wednesday, where my friends edited Wikipedia when they visited my house, or vice versa, is now no longer going to be the case, and I feel like an absolute idiot for not thinking of this (especially given I took precautions to ensure my admin rights were not compromised)."
  • OIC: 10:18, 6 August 200710:24, 6 August 200710:27, 6 August 2007
    • "Yes, two people edited reasonably often from my computer, and I edited reasonably often from theirs..
    • "yes, it looks damning. But in effect I have imposed my own judgement on my future actions by abstaining from AfDs and other community votes for a period of time and have decided to deny anyone further access to my computer/internet connection if it's to be used"
    • A final note - It's easy to come to the conclusion from the checkuser evidence that I somehow had influence over how other people voted, and/or they voted (a particular way) because I did. In several cases, however, we were directed to particular discussions by unrelated individuals and came to similar conclusions, and in other cases, their ideas actually informed mine. As far as I know, it is not against WP policy to discuss a debate offline, as long as no coordination takes place. Ironically, one log I saw somewhere suggested far more coincidence of votes between myself and another user not considered here, than with either of the two people using my internet connection."
  • Z85: 03:44, 3 August 2007
    • "Orderinchaos is a close personal friend of mine."
    • "DanielT5 is my partner (as in we are in a relationship) and presently lives with me. Being a student in from the country, he has no reliable Internet access and usually uses either mine or Orderinchaos's."
    • "We often meet up for lunch, and being only one suburb apart, sometimes spend weekends (and even weeknights) together."

Meatpuppetry or sockpuppetry?

"I have but one further question, if you'll indulge me, Orderinchaos: granting that DanielT5 and Zivko85 are individuals distinct from one another and from you, was there any time at which you'd posted under their usernames, or any time when one of them might have posted under yours?"08:40, 7 August 2007
This question remains unanswered.

  • Z85 votes to merge: 05:45, 25 July 2007
