St. Petersburg Museum of History is next to The Pier at 335 Second Avenue N.E. Five thematic exhibit areas use lighting and scenery to depict the area's development from pre-history to the present. Among displays are fossils and primitive shell tools; replicas of an 1880s general store and of the Orange Belt Railway Depot; and a 1910 trolley. The Benoist Pavilion presents the history of commercial aviation. The museum also features rotating exhibits, programs and guided tours. Allow 1 hour, 30 minutes minimum.
